Understanding The Difference Between Green Tea And Black Tea

If you aren't sure which tea you should drink between green and black tea, these following paragraphs will assist you to make the decision. Whenever one is consuming something, you will find two reasons behind it. It is due to the taste and for the health improvements. Before you choose which tea to consume you should ask why you are drinking a tea?

With regards to flavor, green tea by itself is not the most delicious beverage. Between Green tea and black tea I favor black tea. Black tea is definitely not as bitter as green tea and possesses richer flavor than green tea. I like to put a small amount of sugar and cream in my black tea which makes it a delicious drink. However, if ones main reason to drink a tea is for health benefits, green tea is better.

These two teas come from the same plant. Wait a minute. Then How come one is green and the other is black. Yes. It's true, but do not let the shades trick you. They both come from the exact same source called camellia sinensis. Now, why is a tea green or black? The fermentation process makes a tea from green to black.

Camellia sinensis is originally green as with every other plant. Therefore when one turns black from green, it indicates that it has been processed. Basically, black tea is more processed than green tea. When considering food items, one that is more processed compared to the other food usually is less beneficial. Same reasoning also applies here.

Catechin the substance found in the leaves that are responsible for the health benefits are lost more during the process of producing black tea compared to green tea. A glass of green tea consists of 8 times more catechins than black tea. In theory, you would need to drink 8 more glasses of black tea than green tea to have the equivalent amount of benefits. Well, this may not be completely accurate, but you get the concept.

You just read some of my explanations why I like green tea more than black tea for benefits. Even so black tea retains a number of equivalent positives, which proofs the health benefits of tea leaves are accurate. Despite how much you process the leaves, you would get some benefits. So why not start adding this amazing natural remedy to your daily diet.
